Completely untrue. The point value is different, but the Xbox goes 80 Points to a dollar, so at a glance, an uninformed person would assume it costs less, so I'm not sure where they're coming from. 360/Wii are $2 since they use Points. PS3 is $1.99 since it uses actual monetary increments. NOT completely untrue. In Australia, a song on PSN costs AUD$2.45 (source ). 1000MSP = AUD$16.50.

Therefore 160MP = AU$2.64.EDIT. Not sure how the whole Wii thing works, but I can find 1000 point cards online for $15.00, making the price for Australian Wii users about AUD$3.00 per song. Might not have calculated that right. Oh, and at the moment 1.00 AUD = 1.07300 USD. An Australian X-Box user is therefore paying about USD$2.83 per song. I think Harmonix should give us at least 2 free DLC to download, of your choice. That'd be pretty cool.

I just think Rock Band 3 doesn't have enough songs. And pretty much every dlc song is how much? Usually 160 microsoft points (on xbox) which is about three dollars and on wii 200 wii points (about two dollars.) I understand $2 per track may seem a little steep, but I think you also need to understand that HMX can't produce this stuff for free either.

Buying the old RB's and exporting is a really cost effective way to add songs (even with the export fee because the old games can be bought so cheap now). The track packs are another good route. That's what I'd recommend if $2/track seems ridiculous.

Also $2/track might not be so bad if you just buy one pack every couple of weeks. With the size of the library now, it could be daunting adding up all of the songs you'd like to buy and seeing what that would cost. $10 every couple of weeks might not seem so bad and before you know it you'll have a lot of great music. To the OP, I don't think you mentioned which system you're on. I'm on the Wii and just had this realization that there were free tracks and went searching for them. In the Wii, at least, you can just scroll through all songs and you see on the side how much they're worth.

I downloaded all songs worth 0 points, which ended up being 21 individual songs. Also found a few worth only 100 points. Now a question that I also didn't see mentioned in the thread: are all these free songs (take into consideration that i'm on a Wii, if it makes a difference), old releases from a while back or anything recent?

Meaning, can we (in general, or Wii users in specific) expect any future free DLC or is this a thing of the past? Unfortunately Harmonix nor Activision mentioned their games would work better on an Xbox. I had over $1000 between GH and RB games, hardware, imports and DLC into it before I found out that RB3 was really designed only for the Xbox and that the Wii was the black sheep of the family. That being said, I have no problems with my Wii.

I have a GH guitar and a RB3 guitar, GH drums, RB3 keyboard, and GH microphone. I have no problems playing. I host parties often and everything works. My only issue is sometimes calibrating for lag is difficult on some tvs.

And I don't like being limited to the music I can download based on my console of choice. Other than that, I'm happy where I am. The difference is graphics is nice, but since the Wii graphics are what I came to learn GH and RB with, i'm happy and it does not justify spending $1000+ to transition over to the Xbox. That being said, I will move to a xbox when I can afford it, simply because I don't like being limited and treated like the console that they dont want to work with but do it anyways.

Band

So, I have to buy Rock Band 2 for the 20 free. Have to buy Rock Band 2 to download any of the things I mentioned. Have to buy Rock Band 3 to download the Doors 3 pack. Have to buy a console just to buy Rock Band 3 to do all these things. Have to buy a TV just to display my bought game on my bought console. Yeah, i guess you have to buy a console.

Buying a $30,000 car and having the floor mats thrown in is fairly common. Strolling into a dealership and asking a salesperson for some free floor mats? Probably not happening. Charlene is a free download. Yeah, you need a console, an internet connection and an account, but assuming you have all those things, you can download the song for nothing. You don't need to buy anything else to get it.

You don't even need the game. Or a tv, for that matter. That is different than buying an album and having an additional 3 songs thrown in for your patronage. Those 3 songs are a bonus.an incentive to buy the rest of whatever is being sold. They aren't free. They are a bonus.

You have to pay to get access to them. Do you understand the words in front of you? I bet you still have something to say.you always do. Go ahead.get on with it. Or to comment. ©2013 HARMONIX MUSIC SYSTEMS, INC. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
